"I've plenty of moments for you, Horace." It's still strange to call one's professor by their first name, but when one is graduated, well. It becomes second nature. "What can I do for you today?"
(Horace Slughorn, one of the few people that sees her full potential, is worth her full attention as well.)

Merlin's beard, it was enough to make a tired old man wonder what the point of all his hard work was.
"The same as ever, of course," he said, trundling up to her counter, "a flask of Preservation Potion. Really must replace that old trunk someday, but on my salary..." He shrugged broadly, making the usual excuse. Couldn't replace his trunk, needed a potion to keep it together. Couldn't whip it up himself, she did things with the teak scent and the sheen even he couldn't (he claimed). But even the potion itself was just an excuse. "Though if you have the time, I've had a request for a Conflagration Concoction I simply haven't the time to make, if you'd be interested in the task."
Always more work for her. He benefited immensely, of course -- in free time, since passing jobs to her left him at leisure, and in favors earned from putting his clients in touch with someone so skilled at the art. That benefit kept his interest in her ordinary and explicable, saving him all sorts of grief. He'd have done it for her if it cost him directly and personally, but explaining that would have been such a chore.

Sometimes Lily wonders what the point of all of her own work is. She loves magic and she's never going to give up on it but she's also so tired of being seen as some kind of third-rate citizen over blood status when she can cast and brew circles around most anyone.
She smiles and leans on the counter when he speaks, lips quirking in a familiar way. "With how often you come in for that potion, skip a few times and you'll have a brand new trunk." She's teasing though, lightly, because, well, she knows what he's doing. She always does. If it were someone else she would be offended, but somehow with him it's just... Things are what they are and they'll be what they'll be.
"A Conflagration Concoction? I can have it ready in a few days. If they want it on a rush I can do that at a bit higher cost." With a hum. This is a dance they do sometimes too, seeing if Horace can convince the clients they need the potion right away or not. "But either way, I can get it done."
