IT'S BLOODY HOT IN HERE (no, really. it's seriously hot.)
it's the summer holidays! a perfect time to travel, relax, spend time with loved ones and bask in the sun. the wizarding world is lively with energy at this time of year. everyone seems to want to make the most of their break before september comes around the corner and life returns to its normal, mundane pace. it has been especially exciting with the sporadic and strange appearances of old and new faces. some claim to be from a different world while others claim to be from a different time. then, there are the ones who have simply found themselves waking up to be remarkably younger or older. just remember to keep to your curfews, half-bloods and muggle-borns! those eerie disappearances are still happening in an increasingly alarming rate...
MINISTRY OF MAGIC
for the ones who don't have the good fortune of going on holiday, you won't have to worry about having nothing to do, especially if you're part of the ministry of magic! with all the anomalies happening, you're going to have your hands full registering, documenting, interviewing and/or helping with a multitude of busywork relating to the newcomers. or maybe your job doesn't have anything to do with that. maybe you're on the opposite end and you've been brought in. or maybe you're just a tourist and you want to see if you can catch a glimpse of the minister for magic. whatever your reason is, welcome and stay out of people's way!
DIAGON ALLEY
everyone loves to go shopping and what better place to do it than diagon alley? you'll find mills of people looking at all the different items on sale or on display in store windows. maybe you're here to purchase materials for the upcoming school year or you're out on a date with your significant other. or maybe you actually own or work at one of the many shops here. whatever your reason is, you better be ready for the crowd and the heat.
KNOCKTURN ALLEY
oh no! what are you doing here? turn back right now! knockturn alley is no place for you to be. well, at least it isn't if you aren't a dark arts practitioner or you're not part of some nefarious secret group. just turn around and go back to diagon alley. it's much nicer there, friendlier and safer. have you not heard about all the disappearances going on? you're only asking for trouble stepping into a place like this, even if it's remarkably cool here.
M.I.A.V.I.
not in the mood to go out? or maybe you're stuck in the waiting room at st. mungo's trying to figure out why you're suddenly 10 years older and you need a distraction. disregarding the reason, it's sure a good thing you've conveniently brought along your m.i.a.v.i. so feel free to browse the public network, create your own post, or private message someone!
OTHER
not interested in any of the options above? feel free to make up your own! the wizarding world is huge, so get creative with it. the setting is the summer of 1980. have fun testing out and shaping your characters, mingle with others, and start getting those crs down!
its the work of creeping leapers if its anything mum was right all along she does tend to be right about most things suppose youre right about that too but now what do we do do you mean besides figuring out what this pen does yeah i mean besides that what are we supposed to do out here
i suppose our next course of action should be finding a new flat since it seems like ours has been occupied by a rather upset elder woman
suppose we have to obliviate her before we go too but we need a story to tell her maybe she was just startled by an underground biter
would that be why shed tried to bite us i think that was because we showed up in her flat she is rather spirited isnt she almost nobbed my head right off with her cane well wouldnt i be if someone showed up in our flat i know you wouldnt be a lot of things show up in our flat why would a person be a cause for alarm this is why i worry about the security in our flat
our flat is perfectly safe mum has taught us everything we need to know on how to keep hairless atranochs and coiled wolpertingers out
im not worried about those its people that are scary but we forgot the point why are we here we havent touched a time turner
i could have sworn we just went over this isnt it the work of creeping leapers thats what wed decided on no thats the how i want to know why and how do we get back forget the time turner bit i said
why would you want to go back we havent even explored yet fine well explore and then see about going home hows that i think its time we go she looks like shes up to something all right lets go
Muggleborns have apparently been disappearing for decades, and no one knows why. There's a curfew in place for muggleborns and half-bloods, enforced by the Ministry. They're asking people to register their blood status.
[ Which is never a good sign. ]
Not to mention that those of us who came here from the future have found this past is different than the one we remember.
I'd help you with your housing problem if I could, but I'm in the same place myself. For now I've just rented a room at the Leaky Cauldron.
weve noticed some things are different from what we remember being taught in classes at hogwarts but we just got here so we havent been able to see too much yet
we saw the signs in the windows of shops and all though about blood statuses and it was weird
( lysander is practically leaning his full weight on lorcan's shoulder as he reads what cursebreaker has to say. he makes an uncertain expression when the leaky cauldron is brought up. "Maybe we should stop by Gringott's first." they're going to need a loan. )
[ lorcan pauses in writing to look over his shoulder at his brother, frowning. "Are they even going to give us a loan without collateral?" two broke scamanders with no way to prove they can pay it back. ]
( why can’t time travel come with a luggage? then they would at least have something to leave as insurance other than the clothes on their backs. "Maybe we can find ourselves a job. Do you think Gringott’s will hire me again?" he does work for them in the future. what does it matter if he’s coming in a bit earlier on than expected? )
[ "No," he replies, sudden and almost sharp but not quite - he shakes his head. "They’ll want us to register with the Ministry and I don’t want to do that if we don’t have to." so that means… "We could get jobs in Knockturn if we’re careful. They pay under the table and don’t ask questions." a beat. "We’ll get a room for tonight and worry about it later." ]
well thats not as affordable as wed like in the long run but we can manage in the short term so thank you
( despite the inarguable reality that they have been brought to a different era, the wizarding world has more or less stayed the same from the looks of it, so it doesn’t take much time or effort for the twins to make their way from ms. bertha miller’s flat to the leaky cauldron. lysander is unsurprisingly unfazed by the current predicament they’ve inexplicably found themselves in. if anything, he is feeling remarkably upbeat and fascinated by all the slight similarities and differences between this time period and the one they’ve originated from. )
Should we have asked for a photo, Lorcan?
[ lorcan, on the other hand, is noticing every small difference and filing it away. signs in windows, that kind of thing. of course they don’t know the half of it yet so he’ll be a lot more worried later once they do know the extent of it. the trip to the leaky cauldron being uneventful lets him relax a little more and he shrugs by the time they’re approaching the door, looking over at his brother and knitting his brows. ]
Can’t go around shouting for Bill, can we? I guess we can ask around or use the pen to tell him to stand up if we can’t find him. I don’t want to put our information out there and I’m sure he doesn’t either.
( pushing the door open, lysander waits for his brother to enter first before he steps inside of the pub. it’s the same old leaky cauldron if not a bit less… modern. with an ambiguous smile on his face, he listens for the familiar rickety slam of the door behind them. he nudges lorcan in the side. )
I don’t see why we can’t. ( and without further ado, he inhales a deep breath before he bellows out: ) BILL, IT’S BERTHA. WE’RE HERE. ( a beat and then he leans towards lorcan. ) Do you think he heard that?
[ lorcan figures out what lysander is doing just a split-second too late and by the time he does he can’t clamp a hand over the other wizard’s mouth so he just watches him with both eyebrows raised before rolling his eyes and hooking their arms to pull lysander further inside to look for anyone that so much as reacted.
oh, but a head of long red hair and he’s nudging lysander’s side, leaning in. ]
Looks like Uncle Bill, yeah? [ now it’s lorcan’s turn, sliding up to the table with his brother in tow and smiling sheepishly. they’re identical in every single way. ] Sorry for the racket Uncle Bill, Lysander got excitable and--I just realized you might not know us yet, I’m Lorcan, this is Lysander. We’re friends of Louis.
[ Bill sees them as soon as they enter, having chosen a table from which he can keep any eye on both the front and the rear entrances. Twins. He should have known. He isn't sure at first they're the ones he's here to see, but they did come in a pair. And then the one off them goes and shouts for the whole world to hear. Bill couldn't roll his eyes any harder if he tried. Between these two and the Malfoy boy, he was beginning to think the next generation had lost all concept of subtlety. ]
He'll be glad to know you're here. [ Maybe he can explain their... unique way of communicating. ] Whose are you, then? You don't look like Weasleys. [ But then, his own kids don't look like Weasleys either. ]
[ wow, they are painstakingly subtle? or, well, lorcan is trying to be and failing. it’s just how it is with them. still, he smiles lopsidedly at the question and shrugs. ] ’Cause we’re not Weasleys. We’re Scamanders. Our mum’s Luna Lovegood.
( lysander is far too mellow and absent-minded most of the time to even consider subtlety in a situation where he finds it a tad bit unnecessary. he happened to have found it unnecessary then. calling out a bill by a bertha isn’t going to alert anyone in here. )
Have you met our mum yet? You look much younger than last I saw you.
[She leaves off the last name for now, just in case, though she realizes Luna may still be something that gives her away. Still, she has a good feeling about these two, for some reason.]

I did meet her. We're too far apart in age to have met at school, but she stayed with us for a bit during the War.

April 1998. At least roughly, I think. I was a bit too preoccupied before coming here to quite keep track.
[It's a safer way of talking about her (for her) recent imprisonment. Certainly easier on her own heart, so soon after.]
