IT'S BLOODY HOT IN HERE (no, really. it's seriously hot.)
it's the summer holidays! a perfect time to travel, relax, spend time with loved ones and bask in the sun. the wizarding world is lively with energy at this time of year. everyone seems to want to make the most of their break before september comes around the corner and life returns to its normal, mundane pace. it has been especially exciting with the sporadic and strange appearances of old and new faces. some claim to be from a different world while others claim to be from a different time. then, there are the ones who have simply found themselves waking up to be remarkably younger or older. just remember to keep to your curfews, half-bloods and muggle-borns! those eerie disappearances are still happening in an increasingly alarming rate...
MINISTRY OF MAGIC
for the ones who don't have the good fortune of going on holiday, you won't have to worry about having nothing to do, especially if you're part of the ministry of magic! with all the anomalies happening, you're going to have your hands full registering, documenting, interviewing and/or helping with a multitude of busywork relating to the newcomers. or maybe your job doesn't have anything to do with that. maybe you're on the opposite end and you've been brought in. or maybe you're just a tourist and you want to see if you can catch a glimpse of the minister for magic. whatever your reason is, welcome and stay out of people's way!

everyone loves to go shopping and what better place to do it than diagon alley? you'll find mills of people looking at all the different items on sale or on display in store windows. maybe you're here to purchase materials for the upcoming school year or you're out on a date with your significant other. or maybe you actually own or work at one of the many shops here. whatever your reason is, you better be ready for the crowd and the heat.

oh no! what are you doing here? turn back right now! knockturn alley is no place for you to be. well, at least it isn't if you aren't a dark arts practitioner or you're not part of some nefarious secret group. just turn around and go back to diagon alley. it's much nicer there, friendlier and safer. have you not heard about all the disappearances going on? you're only asking for trouble stepping into a place like this, even if it's remarkably cool here.

[Waking in the home he'd grown up in wasn't unusual.
He doesn't really notice anything is off until after he'd already groggily dressed himself and went looking for his mum. The whole place was.. tidy. In better shape than the death eaters had left it and lacking in some of the dark arts artifacts that had been collected over the years. He brushes it off; the house-elves were set to cleaning, he assumed. If something was missing, he wasn't the one who'd have to deal with it.
He's on the opposite end of the manor during his search, doesn't hear someone calling for their father. No one at the table, every room so far is empty, and the kitchen is the last place to look. With a sigh, his parents shouldn't have gone far all things considered, he sees the door swing closed ahead of him and he hurries to push it open.]
[Scorpius jumps at the voice coming from behind him, blinking owlishly at the spitting image of his father as a young man. Also himself, really, those Malfoy genes run strong.]
[Okay, being asked what he's doing in his own house is.... not a great feeling. More than that, though, he knows who's asking him, and that's an even bigger problem, because it's his dad. Normally that would be the opposite of a problem because he'd been looking for his dad but this Draco Malfoy looks not much older than Scorpius himself, and--

More important question, what's the date? [Because him being in the past and his young father being in the future are two different situations, and he just needs to know more about what he's dealing with here???]
[Draco frowns, an eyebrow ticking upward. It's a strange thing to ask, but he won't assume that the other man has suffered a head injury or something a lot less kind. Not yet anyway. He wants to know why he's in his home and where his parents are. He waves a hand, dismissing the question even as he answers it.]
Fifth of July, 1998. [He squares his shoulders, pretends as if this doesn't bother him, and steps closer.] Now tell me who you are.
[Maybe?? You should?? Explain a little more, Scorpius??]
I think one of us may have been caught in some sort of-- time travel thing and I don't know which, because I certainly don't remember doing anything with a Time Turner [again], so we should probably find something more reliable than our own memories. [He seems to ignore Draco's attempts at intimidation entirely, looking around the kitchen for a copy of the Prophet. It's his dad, he's not afraid of him.
He files the date Draco gave him as looks. After the war had ended, but before he and Mum had started seeing each other. His 18 year old dad is here, in front of him. Does that mean his 17 year old mum is around too? Could he see her again? Talk to her?
The thought rattles him more than he'd thought it would, his hands fumbling at the paper he'd finally managed to locate.
It's freshly delivered, hasn't even been unfolded yet... the date is the first of September, 1980.]
That-- can't be right. [He frowns, mind abuzz. Every theory he can come up with contradicts one fact or another.]
